Ambassador Stefano Pontecorvo, the Italian who is managing the Kabul airport during the crisis.  Complicated and difficult days those that are experienced in Kabul, especially at Hamid Karzai International Airport.

There is an Italian who manages this crucial moment and chaotic days at Kabul Aitport stormed by fleeing Westerners and by Afghans who want to leave the country. 
This is Stefano Pontecorvo, former Italian Ambassador to Pakistan and now Senior Civilian Representative of NATO in Afghanistan.
Stefano Pontecorvo posted a video of Kabul airport on Tuesday showing an empty tarmac, in stark contrast to the chaotic scenes observed the day before.
“Runway in HKIA Kabul International airport is open. I see airplanes landing and taking off, Pontecorvo wrote on Twitter. “Situation is under control,” he added.
Stefano Pontecorvo, 63, is the reference of all world diplomacy for what is happening in Kabul.
“The role that NATO plays in keeping the international airport operational and allowing the country not to be isolated from the world is essential.” The Ambassador also tweeted.
Pontecorvo o is a long-time expert diplomat with great experience in the area, particularly in Afghanistan having closely followed the role of the Italian contingent in Herat.
From 2013 to 2015, before being sent to lead the Islamabad embassy, he was diplomatic advisor to Defense with the ministers Di Paola, Mauro and Pinotti.
